Use these checklists to confirm you have completed the requirements to apply for Advanced Study in your program.

Adolescent & Young Adult Education (ADED)

ADED Requirements at a Glance

  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.75
  • Minimum major GPA: 2.6

Course Requirements (minimum C grade)

You must complete the following courses with a C* or higher.

  • CULT 29535: Education in a Democratic Society
  • ENG 11011 and 21011*: College Writing and Research Writing

    *Grade of B or better is required in ENG 11011/21011 for Integrated Language Arts majors only

  • ADED 20000: Topics in Social Justice in Teaching and Learning
  • MATH 12003: Analytic Geometry and Calculus II (for Integrated Math majors only)

Choose one of the following

  • EPSY 29525: Educational Psychology
  • SPED 23000: Intro to Exceptionalities

Form Requirements

  • Legal Questions for Licensure (1 form)
  • Teacher Candidate Acknowledgements (4 forms)

American Sign Language/English Interpreting (ASEI)

ASEI Requirements at a Glance

  • Minimum GPA requirement: A minimum 2.75 GPA is required for admission to the program; cumulative GPA must be maintained at 2.75 and major GPA must be 3.0 or better to be eligible for the professional phase and Advanced Practicum

Course Requirements (minimum C grade)

Prior to beginning professional phase courses, students must complete the following courses with a grade of C* or higher.

  • ASL 19201: Elementary ASL 1 (or test out of this course)
  • ASL 19202: Elementary ASL 2 (or test out of this course)
  • ENG 11011/21011: College Writing 1 and 2
  • ASEI 43100: Survey of the Interpreting Profession*
  • ASEI 43102: Interpreting Processes 1

*ASEI 43100: Survey of the Interpreting Profession must be completed with a grade of B- or higher.

Exam Requirements

  • Earn a passing score on the Entrance Exam during ASEI 43102
Art/Music Education (College of the Arts)
