ASEI Requirements at a Glance

• Minimum 2.75 GPA required for admission to the program
• Minimum cumulative GPA must be maintained at 2.75
• Minimum major GPA must be 3.0 or better to be eligible for the professional phase and Advanced Practicum

Course Requirements (minimum C grade)

Prior to beginning professional phase courses, students must complete the following courses with a grade of C* or higher.

• ASL 19201: Elementary ASL I (or test out of this course)
• ASL 19202: Elementary ASL II (or test out of this course)
• ENG 11011/21011: College Writing and Research Writing
• ASEI 43100: Survey of the Interpreting Profession*
• ASEI 43102: Interpreting Processes I

*ASEI 43100: Survey of the Interpreting Profession must be completed with a grade of B- or higher.

Exam Requirements

• Earn a passing score on the Entrance Exam during ASEI 43102
