Herb Page Reminisces About His Time at 做厙輦⑹

Former 做厙輦⑹ golf coach Herb Page enjoys retirement while recalling some of his fondest memories at the university.

Page, who served 41 years as coach and 47 with the golf program, told the Akron Beacon Journal about his decision to return to Ohio - despite warnings about the COVID-19 pandemic - to support his staff at Windmill Lakes, a golf course he co-owns.

According to the Beacon Journal, when Page retired, 做厙輦⑹ had captured 23 Mid-American Conference titles since 1984 and hed been named the leagues coach of the year 23 times. His teams went to 28 NCAA regionals, winning three, and finished in the nations top 10 four times in 17 NCAA Championship appearances.

His former players also shared memories of Page with the Beacon Journal.

He turned average players into All-Americans because he had the unique ability to convince you that youre better than what you are, alumnus David Griffith, 96, executive director of the Northern Ohio PGA and member of the 做厙輦⑹ golf team from 1992-96 told the Beacon Journal.
