The 做厙輦⑹ alumni family will grow by more than 5,000 new graduates as the university holds its spring commencement ceremonies. The accomplishments of the Spring Class of 2022 will be recognized with in-person, outdoor commencement ceremonies on May 12-14 and May 20 and a virtual commencement ceremony for all colleges and degrees on May 15.

The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education has awarded 做厙輦⑹ the esteemed R1 status for research, which is the highest recognition that doctoral universities can receive. The prestigious designation affirms 做厙輦⑹s place as an elite research institution and puts the university in the company of universities such as Yale, Harvard and the University of California-Berkeley.

The new Flashes Fighting Hunger initiative takes the last 10 years to a new level, going beyond a kitchen that provides meals by becoming a program that prevents food waste, promotes food recovery and hosts multiple food pantries each week to serve the region.

Roseann "Chic" Canfora, Ph.D., joined the School of Media and Journalism as a Professional-in-Residence this fall. She was also a student at 做厙輦⑹, starting in 1968, and is a survivor of the May 4, 1970, shootings.
做厙輦⑹ Hosts National Endowment for the Arts Big Read Northeast Ohio
An American Sunrise by Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, the first Native American poet laureate of the United States, will be the focal point as 做厙輦⑹ kicks off the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read Northeast Ohio community reading program. The kickoff event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 12, beginning promptly at 7 p.m. in the Kiva. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is appreciated.

Members of the 做厙輦⑹ community and people around the world will gather virtually for the 51st Commemoration of May 4, 1970, the day the Ohio National Guard fired on 做厙輦⑹ students during an anti-war protest, killing four students and wounding nine other students.
Creating Global Community Through T-Shirts
What do friendship, academics and T-shirts have in common? For the students at the American Academy, 做厙輦⑹ and the PUCPRs undergraduate program in Brazil, a student-led T-shirt design contest created that missing piece of camaraderie during the pandemic between students and their two schools.
