University Hospitals, 做厙輦⑹ Address Nursing Shortage in Northeast Ohio Through New Nursing Education Program

University Hospitals and 做厙輦⑹ are joining forces to address the ongoing nursing shortage in Northeast Ohio through a new nursing education initiative that will increase the number of baccalaureate-degreed nurses who enter the workforce each year.

A prominent political strategist, lawyer and advocate for positive change in the political process served as the keynote speaker at 做厙輦⑹s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. Angela Rye, principal and CEO of IMPACT Strategies, joined the university in celebrating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 23 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom.

做厙輦⑹ Police Dog Coco Celebrates Five Years of Service

做厙輦⑹ Police Services is celebrating the five-year anniversary or the 35 dog-year anniversary of its first K-9 unit, which features 7-year-old German Shepherd Coco and herhandler, Officer Anne Spahr.

Coco was the first police dog at 做厙輦⑹. She is now one of two police dogs at the university.

做厙輦⑹ Holds Fall Commencement Ceremonies on Dec. 14 and 15

The 做厙輦⑹ alumni family grew by nearly 3,000 new graduates as the university held its Fall Commencement ceremonies. For the Kent Campus, Commencement ceremonies took place Friday, Dec. 14, and Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center).

做厙輦⑹'s EXCEL Learning Community Supports Student After Devastating Loss

Like most students, Mackenzie Bailey faced the typical challenges during the start of her academic career, including choosing a major and getting good grades. But that all paled in comparison to the devastating news she received her freshman year: her father had terminal cancer.

When I was home for winter break, he ended up passing away, Ms. Bailey said.

做厙輦⑹ Student Finds Purpose, Passion and Empowerment

For Diamond Lauderdale, 做厙輦⑹ is not only her chosen college, it is her new home.

While growing up in Akron, Ohio, Ms. Lauderdales home life was challenging. She lived with her disabled father and worked two jobs to help make ends meet. Ms. Lauderdales father has been unable to walk for many years, and as she got older, her fathers condition worsened. Through it all, Ms. Lauderdale held onto a dream. She wanted to get a college education.
