The interruption to 做厙輦⑹ Ashtabula associate lecturer Joan Steidls Intro to Human Services class recently was for a good reason, as Dean Susan Stocker and many of her colleagues were there to make the surprise announcement of Steidl being a recipient of the 做厙輦⑹ Outstanding Teaching Award (OTA) for 2020. Steidl is one of three recipients across the 做厙輦⑹ system awarded for 2020 and is just the second 做厙輦⑹ Ashtabula faculty member to win the award.
As 做厙輦⑹ returns to a school year that resembles pre-pandemic times, First Star 做厙輦⑹ Academy has begun to imagine new programs. The Academy is a free, comprehensive four-year college access program for youth in foster care. Students at 做厙輦⑹ Trumbull who are in need of food, personal items and clothing will now have more support from the university following Trumbulls Care Closet official opening on Oct. 18. Trumbulls Care Closet was created by the 2020-2021 Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and is set up as a fund that faculty, staff and the community can donate to. Its goal is to provide necessities for students who cant afford them.
National First-Generation College Celebration is on Nov. 8, and 做厙輦⑹ is hosting a weeklong celebration filled with campus-wide activities and learning opportunities to recognize students who will be the first in their family to graduate with a four-year degree.
