When Becky Lehman walked into her first class at 做厙輦⑹, she was in her 30s, raising kids and working at an embroidery shop in nearby Mogadore, Ohio. Today, she is the health commissioner for the Portage County Health District a career milestone she credits directly to the degrees she earned close to home at 做厙輦⑹.

The A.I.D. training which stands for Awareness,  Interaction, and Direction was created in 2019 by the Center for Public Policy and Health in the College of Public Health, teaches participants how to recognize signs of mental distress, engage in compassionate and effective conversations with someone who may be struggling and connect that person with the resources they need.

The collaboration was made possible by a federal grant awarded to MetroHealth to strengthen dental residents' public health skills.
